1) One year of Galileo signals; new website
opens One year ago today, GIOVE-A began
transmitting Galileo navigation signals. This satellite is the first
flight element in ESA’s in-orbit validation programme for Galileo. More at:

3) EGNOS follows the Tour de France The riders in the Tour de France were tracked again this year by EGNOS, the European navigation system that allows precise positioning via satellite. This is the third year that the European Space Agency has been involved in tests of satellite localisation during the Tour de France. More at:
4) First Galileo satellite has been launched - 28 Dec 2005: The first Galileo demonstrator is in orbit, marking the very first step to full operability of Europe’s new global navigation satellite system, under a partnership between ESA and the European Commission (EC).
