General Information

·        The program supports joint commercially focused R&D projects between Israeli companies and Argentinean entities

in all technological fields; with an emphasis on

 Life Sciences  

·        Grants are given up to 50% of the approved R&D expenditures,  No budget limitation (!)

 

·           It is a conditional grant:

o       If the project is successful - royalty payments of 3% - 5% of the future product sales will be required;

o       If the project has no commercial outcome - no repayment will be required.

·           No equity or IP rights are asked in return.

 

Israel has close to 30 Bi-national Support Agreements with various countries across the globe; in this program there is No budget limit

 

·        The program was recently established by the Governments of the Argentine Republic and the State of Israel:

o       On the Argentinean side the agreement was signed through the SECyT - the secretary of Sciences, Technology and Productive Innovation of the Ministry of Science and Education, and the SPE - Secretary of Economic Policy of the Ministry of Economy and Production. The agreement (on the Argentinean side) is operated by SECyT.

o       On the Israeli side the agreement was signed through the Office of the Chief Scientist (OCS) of the Ministry of Industry Trade and Labor. The agreement (on the Israeli side) is operated by Matimop.

Matimop - is the executive agency of the Office of the Chief Scientist for international collaborations. Matimop encourages participation of companies in the bi–lateral and multi-lateral Cooperation Programs in industrial R&D. The programs (on the Israeli side) are funded by the Office of the Chief Scientist (OCS) of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Labor.

This program, as other bi-lateral and multi-later agreements, operates within the framework of THE ENCOURAGEMENT OF INDUSTRIAL RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT LAW, 5744-1984 (chapter 7 relates to these programs in specific).

 

 

Qualification Criteria:

·        Fruitful Collaboration: between an Israeli company and an Argentinean company to jointly develop a new product or a new process. Other entitles (such as academic entities, Hospitals, Clinics, etc.) are eligible to join as sub-contractors

·        The product should be highly innovative

·        Significant commercial potential

·        Added Value to the Israeli Economy

·        The entities should have the technological, commercial and financial abilities to successfully bring the new product to market

·        The partners should agree in advance on the IP rights and on the commercialization strategy of the product.

(Technical know-how acquired in the project is expected to be shared between the partners in a way that would reflect each partner contribution to the project)


 

Operation

·          We have offices in Argentina and Israel; Argentinean and Israeli entities should contact these offices respectively. 

·        We publish two calls of proposals (RFP) in a year, each is open 3 to 4 months, during these periods entities are entitle to submit their application forms.

·          Initial screening

·          Locating potential technological partners - this is a major part of our job – we help you find your partner!

·          Match-Making 

·          Initial evaluation of the joint project

·          Accompany the companies in the process of preparing the application

·          Follow up on the joint projects that have been approved

To be filled only be the Israeli partner and to be submitted only on the second stage of application.
