Why participate in FP activities?

There are many reasons for organizations to participate. However the return may only be over several years and it is essential to have a clear business reason and strategy for each project. The following are some of the possible benefits that can be derived - 

• To generate new technology or understanding that can be quickly exploited.

• To help influence or develop standards that will be important for future business

• To help build commercial relationships in specific geographic areas or markets with potential customers, partners or suppliers or complementary members of supply chain.

• For training, maintaining or acquiring important skills.

• To gain technical or market intelligence.

Potential Leverage

Although the 50% funding should not be the sole reason for participating, in fact the potential leverage is much higher. If there are four equal partners in total, the actual benefit could be 800% of the cost. This is a very important aspect, but to ensure favourable access to other partners work, it is extremely important the Project Contract and a Collaboration Agreement are properly drawn up.  Return to EU Framework Programs home
