In order to promote and increase technological cooperation between high-tech industries and research institutions in Israel and Italy, the two governments signed an agreement for bilateral cooperation in industrial scientific and technological research and development.

 In Israel, this agreement is under the responsibility of the Office of the Chief Scientist (OCS) at the Ministry of Industry Trade and Labor, and in Italy under the responsibility of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

MATIMOP – the Israeli Industry Center for R&D – is in charge of the promotion and implementation of the agreement on behalf of the OCS, and coordinates the activities within this program. 

Once a year a "call for proposals" is published simultaneously in both countries, inviting Joint R&D industrial proposals to be submitted to the two governments.

Joint projects within this framework may be eligible for government funding in both countries. Support compliance is subject to each country’s prevailing laws, regulations and procedures.
